Co-organization of the Conference “Olive Sector: Challenges and Prospects” with the Midterm Conference of LIFE OLIVER
The conference will take place on June 11 and 12, 2026, at the Agricultural University of Athens and will examine, in a comprehensive manner, the key issues and future prospects of the olive sector, as well as the impacts of climate change.
With climate change at its core, particular emphasis will be placed on “carbon farming” in olive groves and on enhancing the sustainability of olive cultivation through carbon dioxide sequestration.
Through this collaboration, LIFE OLIVER aims to highlight the role of olive groves as systems for climate change mitigation, leveraging their capacity to capture CO₂ and provide essential ecosystem services.
The objective of the LIFE OLIVER Midterm Conference is to contribute to shaping a common framework of understanding regarding the challenges and opportunities of the olive sector, while fostering dialogue among scientists, producers, and policymakers.
